ENGLISH FOR INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE & COMMUNICATION

• Overview

  Designed for all of those who operate, or intend to operate, in diverse international/multicultural contexts, this advanced course was conceived to, on the one hand, foster the development of communication skills in English in both social and professional interactions, develop strategies applicable in the context of negotiation processes and presentations in a professional context, as well as promote the use of digital technology in the learning of specific terminology. On the other hand, it aims to promote the development of intercultural awareness in students – that is, the recognition of how cultural differences shape each person’s view of the world, the impact they have on interpersonal relationships and the way they influence each individual’s communication patterns.

  Learning Outcomes

  • Identify cultural factors that impact communication between different interlocutors and apply cultural analysis models with a view to anticipating potential intercultural conflicts/misunderstandings;
  • Communicate in English in both social and work-related situations;
  • Present organizational/business information orally, applying specific terminology in a structured and linguistically correct manner;
  • Apply specific terminology and interpersonal/intercultural communication skills appropriate to the negotiation context.
